The Mead & Greed Festival was born out of the passion of the bands Baumbart and Tales of Ratatösk. Back in 2017, they launched a gig exchange for German folk and pagan metal bands with the goal of strengthening the scene's network and creating new performance opportunities for everyone. After an initial concert at Helvete, the idea was quickly born: a two-day festival where newcomers and established acts play side by side – to revitalize the German and international folk and pagan metal scene, which had suffered from a decline in events in recent years.
What started as a small event at the youth culture center has long since grown into a nationally renowned festival.
After the pandemic-related hiatus, the festival moved to Resonanzwerk Oberhausen in 2021 to accommodate the steadily growing number of visitors. With the larger venue came bigger names: major artists like Månegarm and Heidevolk rocked the Methalle.
After the 2024 edition, there were some changes in the organizing team, which is why the 2025 festival had to take a break.
But now we're looking ahead: With renewed motivation, a big comeback is planned for 2026. We hope you're as excited as we are to raise your meth horns to the sky again on May 1st and 2nd, 2026, at Resonanzwerk!
Amidst the "Ruhrpottbaroque" atmosphere, Mead and Greed offers a small oasis of escapism with good music, mead, and delicious food. Don't miss this experience and secure your tickets now!
