Friends of sophisticated mead consumption – Mead & Greed is alive and returning!
But wait... why was there a break at all?
Mead & Greed is, above all, a passion project. Non-profit, but driven by passion. We want to do something for the scene and share unforgettable moments with you.
What began as a small concert by a few members of Treebeard and Tales of Ratatösk has grown over the years into a nationwide event featuring international bands. As the festival and lineup grew, so did the workload for each individual on the organizing team, as well as the financial risk. Both factors led the previous organizing team to no longer be willing to endure these sacrifices, which is why the decision was made to cancel the festival for 2025 until further notice.
But the flame has not gone out – it has only been passed on.
The previous organizers, Tim, Peter, and Marc, will now be joined by Didi and Ingo, allowing us to take a step back. We, Didi and Ingo, have not only been close friends with the organizers for years and are thus closely connected to the festival, but we're also musically at the heart of it. This way, the festival stays in the family. Tim, Peter, and Marc will also remain part of the organizing team, just in a smaller and more passive role.
What's changing for you? Nothing for now. We want to continue the festival as best we can, as it has been so far, because one of the reasons we joined was to not lose this wonderful gem among festivals – true to the motto: "Never change a running system".
So we will continue to try to offer you interesting, international bookings of smaller and larger bands. Of course, there will still be mead, and we hope to maintain the excellent level of previous years with the much-praised catering.
Further information and news, first band announcements and the start of pre-sales will follow in the next few weeks.
Until then, all that remains for now is to say thank you:
Thank you Tim, Peter, and Marc for what you've accomplished. We hope we're worthy of taking over the reins from you.
And of course, we also thank you, the loyal fans who make the pilgrimage to Mead and Greed every year. Without you, the festival would no longer exist.
Follow us on social media to stay up to date. Otherwise, we hope to see you in May 2026.
Cheers,
Your Mead and Greed team!
